Defender 2009 Won't Defend Your Security

If you aren't familiar with Defender 2009, it is much like other rogue security programs that advertise their effectiveness to innocent users. The programs claim that they will scan your PC, detect spyware and other infections, and remove them. The ironic part is that Defender 2009 and other malicious applications are themselves spyware! It is simply and adware disguised as a spyware removal program.

Defender 2009 looks credible at first glance. If you are lured into downloading the scan to detect security threats, as the program claims to do, you will be given supposed results of spyware and other infections that reside on your PC. The results are fakes. As with most other rogue antispyware tools, this one cannot perform any kind of scan, so it does not detect anything at all. Hackers design these applications for one main purpose: to steal your money.

If Defender 2009 does become installed on your PC, most likely the first clue you will have that there is a problem is incessant pop-up ads. Most of these fakes give themselves away by displaying advertisements to you. You might find it strange that these ads seem to be geared to your interests and search queries, and for good reason. These applications track information about your searches, the websites you visit, and even your online business data. This information is sent to their home database, and then ads related to your interests are displayed to you.

Defender 2009 will also impair the performance of your PC. When you are infected, many processes are running and your computer is communicating with a remote server as well. This uses up much of the memory in your system, as well as bandwidth. All of this means that your PC will run slow and perform poorly in general. You might also notice that your browser is redirecting you to strange websites, and you may get error messages.

To sum it up, your PC is in danger of crashing, and this rogue antispyware tool must be removed. Manual removal is possible but not recommended because it is a highly complex task that puts your computer in danger of further damage. A reputable antispyware tool should be used for this purpose.
